Current System: Bids are solely for total value of contract. Example: $5M for 4 years would be a higher bid than $19M for 1 year. Proposed System: Bids are based on the bid point system that factors in value per year and length of contract. Example: $4M for 2 year is worth 16 bid points, while $2M for 4 years is worth 12 bid points. This makes for much more realistic bidding and contracts. It may look a little confusing at first, but it's actually very simple once you play around with it for a few minutes. Just enter the bid points from the most recent bid and adjust the 3 editable cells (contract years, average annual salary & team option for final year) and it will do all the math for you and tell you whether your bid is legal or not. Once it is, just copy and paste into the Free Agent thread for that player. I'll include the link below for the sample spreadsheet, feel free to mess around with it and see how the different changes affect the bid. SF and I also did a test bid last night that can give you an idea of how the bidding will look. No Option = (AAS+AAS)+(AAS*Years) Option = (AAS+AAS)+(AAS*Years-45%)

Ah, well the minimum increases are built into the formulas. If it passes, I'll make everyone their own copy to use, I could send yours in Excel instead if that's accessible for you. The Google Sheets app works too, but a little annoying doing it on your phone.

Will the 10% and 20% increases be based off points now?

It would be a little bit different on the increases for this system.
<20 BP, 15%; <100 BP, 10%, >= 100 BP; 5%
